Introduction

Every post on OTBooru is required to have Tags, a Title, and a Rating. While not explicitly required, many posts also include Source Links.

Tags

Tags are keywords which are used to describe posts. Their primary purpose is to allow users to search for posts which include things they want to see, and blacklist posts containing things they don't want to see.

Most of the tags on this site have categories attached. When creating a new tag within a category, the syntax is `category:tag`. Examples: character:mario, copyright:toby_fox, species:cat

Tag categories:

Character - Somewhat of a case-by-case basis, try to use the character's best known name. If not that, their full name.
Copyright - The original series/franchise or company a character or game is owned by. Game titles and films are also included in this category.
Creator - If you created a meme uploaded to the site, tag it with the "creator:" category alongside your full alias (i.e. "creator:ardendev" instead of "creator:arden").
Music - Any songs playing in a post.
Species - The species of any characters included in a post. Examples: human, dog, cat, bird, bear, etc.

Not all tags on OTBooru belong to any category, we refer to these as "general" tags. Here's a list of some of the most common general tags:

When adding general tags to a post, make sure to avoid anything too generic, such as "image", "air", or "head".
Additionally, tags must always be objective. For example, subjective tags such as "good", "bad", or "funny" are not allowed.

If you're ever unsure about a post's tags or just want them double checked, add the "tagme" tag and another user will review the post.

Ratings

Every post on OTBooru has a rating, here are the available ratings and their uses:

Safe - Posts marked as "safe" contain no questionable content; most posts have this rating.
Questionable - This rating is meant for posts that contain slightly more risqué content (such as artistic nudity). There are very few posts on OTBooru with this rating.
Explicit - Explicit/NSFW content of any sort is not allowed on OTBooru; this rating is unused.
Unrated - The default when you create a post without manually setting a rating; this is only a placeholder.
